Dog Daycare

Information and Requirements

Treat your pup or pups to a day full of play and fun at The Belmont! We offer you a chance to give your special companion a safe and eventful day with well-qualified staff that will be there to give your dog the specialized attention he or she deserves!

Our daycare areas are the only one of their kind in Nashville. On the warm and sunny days, the dogs play in our fenced and closely monitored play area. On the not-so-warm-and-sunny days, the dogs get to come inside and play in one of our four indoor playrooms! All four indoor playrooms are climate controlled and specifically designed to remain clean and safe.

We want to make sure that all of our dogs enter a safe and happy environment. That being said, we require all pups to be currently vaccinated, neutered or spayed at the age of six months, and must complete a two part Temperament Test 48 hrs before any daycare reservations can be made

Although dog daycare is fantastic for well-socialized dogs, it is not for everyone! Older dogs, dogs with health issues, or dogs with an aggressive history might not be suitable for the daycare environment.

Senior Dogs

Dogs must be over 15lbs to participate in our daycare program. Dogs under 15lbs, after completion of the 1st temperament test, are still able to board but will be on a Potty Breaks Only schedule.

Please note that while we do accept senior dogs for boarding, they are required to go up and down a flight of stairs to reach our outdoor areas. Supervisors will use their discretion if they feel your senior dog is suited to attend daycare or needs to be on a Potty Break Only schedule. We do not accept dogs with arthritis. We also do not accept pets that are diabetic or have other medical needs that require 24 hour surveillance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Nap Rotations

Nap rotations help manage the energy of the group, as well as give dogs an opportunity to rest without being bothered by the other dogs. Each hour, pet assistants will select a group of dogs to be put up for naps, and switch them out with the dogs that were in the previous nap rotation. Each dog in daycare gets at least one nap per day.

Vaccinations Requirements

All dogs are required to be current on their distemper (DHLPP), Rabies, influenza, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccinations and have had a clean fecal exam. Please note that due to the communal nature of our establishment we require the Bordetella vaccination (intranasal) and fecal exam be renewed every six months by your vet. These requirements MUST be done prior to securing a daycare reservation and your dog may not expire on any of these vaccinations during their stay.

Temperament Test

We like to think of our Temperament Test as an introduction to you and your pup more than an actual exam. That being said, in order to properly assess your pooch, we require that all of our dogs, regardless of size, temperament, or history take our two-part, two day temperament test. We understand that to some this may seem a bit strenuous, but we strive to make sure that your pup feels comfortable and safe playing with us; we also want to make sure that they will have fun!

Before booking the Temperament Test, we want to make sure that all of your pup’s vaccinations are currently up to date. Your dog must be current on their Rabies, Distemper/Parvo vaccinations as well as have a negative fecal exam and a Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination within the last six months. We will not be able to schedule the second part of your Temperament Tests until we receive these vaccinations.

Part One

The first part of our Temperament Test will be conducted Monday - Friday with a scheduled appointment. You will be greeted by a member of our concierge who will get you signed in and ready to meet with one of our staff members who will perform the test.

Our qualified staff member will ask you several questions about your dog’s history and how they react to certain situations or scenarios. Once completed, they will take your pup back to their appropriately sized daycare area to meet with several dogs who are already in daycare for that day. Your dog will be introduced to pups of various ages, gender, and also play styles to see how they react and handle themselves in this new environment.

Once playtime is over (the whole process of the first day will take you and your pup about 20 to 30 minutes), your dog will return to the lobby with our staff member where they will let you know how they did in their play session. If your pup passes, they will be invited back for a half day of daycare on a different day. You can make a reservation with our concierge for their half day before you leave.

Part Two

On your dog’s pre-scheduled half day of daycare, you can drop your pup off for play between the hours of 7AM and 9AM. One of our pet assistants will whisk your pup away to their daycare area for a fun half day of play!

The pick-up time for their first half day is by 1:00 PM. While your pup is in daycare, our pet assistant will be evaluating their day and also writing a report card to mark their progress! When you pick up, we’ll let you know if your pup passed their Temperament Test. You’ll also get their report card to take home with you.

If your pup passes their test, then you’ll be able to bring your dog in for boarding and daycare - the sky’s the limit! The second part of the Temperament Test will be free of charge.
